These events are always a blast. I have been working with Astrid Kent and most of Whistler’s top toques in producing these challenges. We have had 3 competitions so far and all have been great successes. Our last challenge was staged on the patio at Araxi in the heart of Whistler Village. Great crowd participation and we recieved a ton of media exposure. I may or may not have drank all the sample wines as well.
The Chef Challenges are unique in that all the ingredients and ‘black box’ items are sourced locally and must be sustainable products. We attempted to craft the event in a way that highlights local chefs from the Sea-to-Sky corridor restaurants, but the challenges are also designed to educate onlookers about local products and cooking ‘green’. The most recent event was also focused on promoting the Green Table Network.
